Shine Bright: Ephesians (Part 2)

Happy Lord’s Day!

Continuing the Sunday “Shine Bright” series in Ephesians chapter 3, there’s a beautiful theme. (In case you missed last week’s on Ephesians 1 & 2, go on and saunter over here.)

Let’s see if you can spot it. πŸ˜‰

Here’s a few verses to get you started:

To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ . . . This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. So I ask you not to lose heart . . . For this reason I bow my knees before the Father . . . that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faithβ€”that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. . . to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Can you see it? (Let me give you a couple lines of blank space to think. πŸ™‚ )

Encouragement. (It’s a little hard to spot, sorry! πŸ™‚ )

Major encouragement.

Thanks for the pep talk, Paul!

Let me show you.

  • “[T]hough I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.” Aside from Paul’s incredible humility, there’s a great lesson of encouragement here. No matter how small we are, God can still use us! Grace was given to us! And with it, we are to witness to others the good news of Jesus Christ. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel alive.
  • “[I]n [Jesus] we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.Β So I ask you not to lose heart.” Not only are we given purpose and a mission, but we’re prepared for it! Have you ever been asked what you would do if you weren’t afraid? Imagine! We’re usually afraid because we think we’re inadequateβ€”i.e., not confident in ourselves or bold enough to try. And guess what? We don’t have to be! He will give us boldness and confidence when we trust in Him.
  • “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father . . . that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faithβ€”that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now that’s cool. I think I’ll leave this one with Paul. It doesn’t need any explaining. πŸ™‚

I’m not sure about you, but I feel like God just gave me a huge hug.
